Katharine began portrait painting at a young age, influenced by her portrait artist father Norman Dickinson, a painter of U.S. aristocracy in the late 20th century. She went on to study fine art printmaking and painting at the internationally renowned Slade School of Fine Art in London.

Trained in classical painting, she paints portraits in oil and acrylic. Her paintings are distinctive for their use of rich and vibrant colours. She seeks to capture the emotional spirit of her subjects in the mood and expression of each painting.

Currently she is exploring the use of modern tools in portraiture, using a combination of traditional and digital techniques that reflect the beauty and raw spirit of people. These techniques allow an extensive exploration of colour variations and combinations, as well as the versatility of reproducing the image on different media. The diversity of texture and brush strokes in new media techniques evoke a modern spirit that embodies contemporary portraiture.

She continues to follow her love for portraiture and the challenge of creating art that connects with the spirit of people, seen most recently in her digital print series for Vancouver Winter Olympic Games 2010, exhibited at Richmond City Hall in collaboration with Speed Skating Canada. Katharine currently lives and works in Vancouver.

She is working from her Vancouver studio on family portrait paintings for clients in London U.K., Toronto Canada and Sydney Australia.
